A deceptively complex fabric, Samurai's new Black-on-Blue denim appears like standard double black denim when new but is actually produced through an intricate, labor intensive dye process. The warp yarns are indigo rope dyed, and then dyed black with sulfide dye, producing yarns with three layers of color, natural white at the core. As these yarns fade, the black first fades to indigo, and then to white underneath. The black weft yarns will also fade to grey over time, creating a highly complex tapestry of color over time.
The Black-on-Blue fabric is featured here on Samurai's 510, Regular Straight cut. The 510 is a straight fit that's not too baggy, with a medium-high rise, room in the top block and a gentle taper throughout the leg.
